Leeds today: conkers, chutney, Chapeltown and cuts.

Good morning ladies and gents, Elly here for today’s news roundup.

The BBC highlights a documentary shown last (therefore available on iPlayer) about the investigation of who exactly owns Leeds United.

In a similar vein, tonight the Chapeltown Union of Geographers is holding a lecture at Leeds University entitled ‘Who Owns Chapeltown?’ focusing on their work in the area.

Also on the BBC, a report on the Victorian Society’s recommendations on some local buildings ‘seriously at risk’, including Temple Works.

Fashion and retail has all gone a little bit mad this week with the start of Leeds Loves Shopping festival, including the Leeds Fashion Show this Friday and Walk This Way music and fashion show next Friday.

South Leeds Life, one of our favourite local sites, has started their own news roundup of super-local news! Awesome! Included in this roundup are plans for Aldi, meetings, and a Halloween Party.

Creative Calverley have got it going down with a series of amazing autumn and winter themed events, including a conker battle and a Chut Off. Yes, that’s right, chutney versus chutney in the tangiest battle known to man!

Bramley Baths looks set to become the centre of a continuing battle to keep it open, with a new business plan from residents being put forward: a huge part of it is getting your cozzies on and making a splash! (Anyone for a watery tweetup?)
