Leeds today: Beeston Festival, Headingley Music Fest, East Street Arts, Light vintage fair, Yelp passport

Morning one and all. If you’ve been out and about already this morning, then chances are that like me you’ll look like a drowned rat already. Fortunately I suppose, you’re not alone. No need to watch the weather forecast today – look out the window and it’ll tell you all you need to know. But that shouldn’t stop us from making the most of the weekend here in Leeds!

First up, we’re looking forward to this year’s Beeston Festival, taking place at Cross Flatts Park on Saturday. With a wide variety of music and entertainment, fun and games, it’s going to be a spectacle. Look here on South Leeds Life for more.

On the other side of the city centre, the Headingley Music Festival continues apace, with gigs and events throughout the area all weekend.

And further afield, this weekend sees the last international horse trials before this year’s Olympic Games arrive in Bramham near Wetherby.

East Street Arts has more on its work in collaboration with the Comm(o)nist Gallery (get it?) to develop a project for Leeds this month responding to the issues of the day in this Olympic year. Their plan? As well as inviting established artists to take part, they are calling on participants to get involved in the Common-all Games… read more here.

Drop by The Light throughout the day on Saturday or Sunday to see what’s on offer at its second Vintage Fashion Fair this year, “packed full” they proclaim with womens and mens collectables, retro clothing, hand-made jewellery and beautiful gifts.

And finally to round off another hard-won weekend, and to look ahead to another exciting week, why not RSVP to the launch party for Yelp Leeds’s big Passport to Leeds City Centre coming your way with promotions and offers over the next few days. Sunday afternoon at Birds Yard boutique!

Have a glorious weekend. Rain can be incredibly romantic, you know. Just saying…
