Leeds today: events, fashion, more fashion, bishop.

Hello everyone! A late one (typical) from me, @ebsnare – who is also tweeting as @PeopleofLeeds this week. Why not stop by and say hi?

BREAKING EVENTS:

Swing by Dock Street Market tonight and take your pick from the events happening there, including Yarnia – a knitting group for cool kids – and We Publish, a writers/bloggers group for cool kids. Shazam.

A Leeds woman has joined the women’s GB boxing squad for the sport’s debut this year in London.

Over on Leeds Forum, fashion lovers will be interested in a fashion networking event taking place on the 26th July – more details over on the site.

The Holt Park Entrance Project had its officially opening recently and you can view the video over on Holt Park Community News.

More news on the Store Wars currently besieging Middleton, with Asda’s latest plans finally emerging, over on South Leeds Life.

The Guardian Northerner has a very short piece on Amanda Wakeley who, in her recent Harvey Nichols fashion show, bemoaned the lack of British fashion manufacturing and how she looks to high quality British-made products for her collection. As this is a particular field of interest for me, may I ask one of the lovely Guardian Northerner individuals to get in touch – there’s a whole lot more interesting stuff we could say about the decline of industry, the internationalisation of production and manufacture, and especially the North’s role in British textile manufacturing than what’s said in that there article. And you know, I’d love to write about it.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has published a piece with information from the Bishop of Sheffield, who has expressed concerns about the government’s plans for same-sex marriage (rather than civil partnership) and the potential for it to ‘threaten the establishment of the Church’. Love is love, Bishop baby, no matter who you are – and isn’t marriage meant to be the true expression of everlasting love?

Oh I started rambling…sorry loves. Have a great rest of the day and a good week – ciao!
