Leeds today: Hunslet, shuffles and postboxes.

Good afternoon news fans, and thank for being so patient. I was waiting a little longer to post today to get some more news – however, there’s still not much so enjoy what little there is here!

While not strictly Leeds and West Yorkshire focused, the cabinet shuffle of the current government is important news – the BBC has a round up of who has moved where, including Hunt, Lansley, Warsi and Gove (and possibly Dibble and Grubb).

Also on the BBC, Yorkshire has received another shiny gold postbox thanks to ‘Hurricane’ Hannah Cockroft, who sped to a gold victory in track and field in the Paralympics, and originally comes from Halifax. Yeah!

There’s two pieces of Hunslet-based news too: firstly, the renowned Hunslet Club will stage Northern Ballet’s first ever production for children, the Ugly Duckling. More details can be found here. Secondly, in a couple of weeks it’s Hunslet Clean Up Day, on the 15th September, designed to help improve the look of the local area with the help of the local community.

Leeds List, which we haven’t really mentioned before on BGL but probably should, has a round up of some of the best bars on Merrion Way – what do you think?

And finally, I have a preview over on my blog of a beauty charity event this Thursday: a collaboration between the Lancome concession in Debenhams and the fantastic Leeds charity Healthy Living Network Leeds. Have a look and hopefully see you there!

Short, sweet, and unfortunately a little thin on the ground. Please remember – if you have any news for us, let us know and we will try and get it in for you: we’re always interested in what you have got to say! Have a lovely afternoon and see you next week.
